I'm a lurker around here for a long time, because of my interest in guitar construction. But I'm no luthier (at least not yet!). I hope this isn't a big breach of etiquette, but I bought this set of quilted honduran mahogany from Hibdon to be used by a luthier building a guitar for me. I didn't realize at the time that I couldn't have a soft cutaway with quilted mahogany like this. ![]() I could put this on ebay, but I'd be happy to offer it to anyone here for what Hibdon is charging, $250 + $11 shipping. I can take Paypal. I'm in the Phoenix area if anyone is local. I do have dealings with some of the luthiers on here, like Tim McKnight, who I believe would vouch for me. Again, if this is inappropriate please delete the post. I just thought this was one of the more unique and attractive sets I've seen and that I should offer it before putting it up for auction. |

It is a beautiful set Jason... and welcome!!! There is always a risk bending highly figured wood but it can be bent into a cutaway with luck!!! I'd love to have it but I am a little over stocked with B&S's right now. |

You should take advantage of the Luthiers Auction site for that.... |

I thought about that, Don, but judging from the auction introduction thread I figured a seller without a history on this forum is just what a lot of the members here don't want on the luthier auction site! At least on Ebay I have a long history of 100% satisfaction. But, if I don't get any interest maybe I'll try the luthier auction route. Couldn't hurt, right? ![]() |

Gee I hope not...I just put one of Don's killer set of coco on there, thinking it might sell. And I have little feedback "anywhere", including eBay. |

there is no reason why that could not be a soft cutaway. It's a beautiful set of wood and a soft cutaway, while it does take some skill, can , for sure, be done. |
